My Son's Weekend Get Away = Cheezmoe's In 'da House

This evening Cheezmoe found an itty bitty piece of rib bone (cow's rib, not human) in the backyard. She's been gnawing on it for about 15 minutes.

She turned her back for a moment and Rowe-Quinn stole it. Giving Cheezmoe a throaty 'grrrrr' (he's got nothing to back it up, but he is bigger and older).
Surely he'll be giving up soon.....

You let him have it!!

I'm going to pretend not to watch.

He's losing interest I can tell.

Where'd Cheezmoe go?

One more throaty warning from Rowe-Quinn

Thank you Grandma T

I apologize for the doggie bile on the doggie bed. No worries, it's dry and I'll brush it off outside one of these days.

Plenty Of Hot Walks

My dogs look forward to their evening (and only) outing everyday. Every now and then I will skip an evening, but I can't deal with my self-imposed guilt when the evening winds down and they realize that all chances of going out are gone.

Rowe-Quinn Without An Outing

Rascal's Bored
So you see, I can NOT skip their outings. If it's hot, cold, raining or otherwise unpleasant for me, too bad ~ they're getting their outings!

3. Water bowl & water, check, check
4. Camera, check
5. Water for me, check
6. Secured spaces not allowed, check

Now for fun...

My Own Personal Dog Park

The piece of property is owned by one man that is hardly ever home. The property is fenced and is a wonderful alternative to bicycling with my dogs. They can run, sniff, explore, smell grass, eat Hackberry tree leaves (I'm not sure why they like those, but they do).

Rowe-Quinn
Below, just to give you an idea of the size of this yard. It's almost a whole lot sitting on 3 lots.
We don't have grass in our puny yard, so this is really a treat. The only real down-side is there are fleas over here.
Rowe-Quinn enjoying the grass.
So, I've treated once with diatomaceous earth and will do it again before we go over there again. Sugar especially enjoys exploring the balconies of the uninhabited apartments.

Rascal's New Haircut-Before & After

Rascal Before His Haircut

Rascal After
I didn't take a whole lot off, but I am really new at doing this and the dogs of mine that do get a trim accept it with no problems. I really think that they love the one-on-one attention.

I Almost Forgot To Post Quinn's 'After' Photo!

I think he looks terrific, well, except maybe for his tail..I was going for a pompom (I know - duh)I don't know..... I think he looks really good. Don't get me wrong, I love his wooly looks, and gorgeous mane but this is Texas afterall. Sooo hot.

I can hardly wait until I've done this a few more times. Hopefully I will get better at it.

My Friday Last

Oh I woke with wonderful feelings for this day. I worked 3 hours and came home to wait for my telephone interview with Best Friends Animal Society. My dream job~Community Animal Assistance Specialist. The call came in and I think it went well. The one question I wasn't prepared for was "what do you know about animal welfare". Ugggh, I answered it so stupid, so stupid I can't even type it here. What I SHOULD have said was, TNR programs, No-Kill initiatives, No More Homeless Pets, etc. I wasn't, I couldn't think, my mind went soooo blank. I've kicked myself for 24 hours and I'm done with that now. I know the odds of getting the 2nd phone interview are probably slim at best. That is, even IF I had answered that question with any brains involved. After the interview, I was going to trim at least two of the dog's hair. I had just bought a brand new pet trimmer (Oster) ~ it was going to be so much fun for ME! Then 3/4 of the way through Rowe-Quinn's cut, I dropped the darn thing!! Dropped it. The blade slipped out and I couldn't put it back together again correctly. I cried, I kicked (not the dogs) my ass for being such a putz. I'm certain now, that was an omen about the job. A sign from the great job gods that that Friday, was just not my day. Not the day I had waited for. ps. Rowe-Quinn looks really good even though I wasn't through with his cut. The photo above is the before.

**New Doggie Dinner Meat Tryout**

Well, I tried venison with my dogs dinner tonight. It really was quite amusing.

Sookie, of course, scarfed hers up without a pause. The others, not so much.

Rowe-Quinn picked it up, tossed it around in his mouth, then dropped it. He did this a number of times before walking away from it. Sookie ate it up.

Now I'm talking about just a sliver of venison steak. No big chunks just a tidbit.
Sugar wanted it, but she just wanted to lick it. If the others came near her she'd pick it up and go to another spot. In fact, I think, she tried to bury it in her sheet that I put down. Silly girl. Sookie ate it up.

Rascal, wasn't sure he liked the smell, but when I held it for him he quickly let it slide down.

Alissa tried to chomp it some, but pushed it out of her mouth when the taste was too much for her. Sookie ate it up.

This is such a trip ~ perhaps they could tell it was old, freezer burned venison.
